For a long time I have been attracted by surfaces in inner city areas, like walls or doors. Layers of colour overlie, peel off, bear witness of yesterday. I see Paintings in them, everything is there: Colours, forms, textures…the compositions only need to be “collected”, fixed, and by that made visible to others. For Years I have been going on Foto-Safaris, focusing on details and composing with what I find. In cities like Leipzig, Berlin or Marseille you find many exciting motives, as they have a long history and a huge street-art-culture. But often very beautiful colour fields form simply because of neglect, oblivion or because there is no money or interest in renovation.
